The American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior brings together vets and animal behavior practitioners from all over North America. One of it’s important functions is to put out recommendations and best practices to help practitioners improve their work and ultimately improve the lives of pets and animals and the humans with whom they interact. AVSAB collects research about animal behavior and makes it available to the public. One item of interest to dog trainers is AVSAB’s guidelines about the best time to start dog training. They recommend starting training at 8 weeks as this is the time dogs become most receptive to training.
